Fire Along the GSP Seen from Space

On Sunday June 2, 2002, around 1:00 PM, a large fire started in Berkeley Township, NJ, between exits 60 and 80 on the Garden State Parkway. Strong winds and a season of below-average rainfall caused the fire to grow rapidly.

Tanker Runs Aground, RU COOL On Call

On Thursday, May 2 2002 a tanker carrying around 40 million gallons of crude oil onboard ran aground against muddy bottom about 14 nautical miles outside of Delaware Bay. While the vessel, Crude Target, was not leaking or damaged, the Coast Guard and a team from NOAA/HAZMAT began monitoring the situation.

This coming summer, you can turn to your local TV weather station to find the latest ocean water temperatures and beach forecasts at the Jersey shore. NBC10 and the COOLroom.org have partnered for a second year to bring you the latest Ocean Weather forecasts right to your TV. NBC10 will be incorporating this data into their daily weather casts.
