Waves Added to the COOLroom --April 27, 2001
This week, scientists in the COOL Lab added wave measurements from the Coastal Radars to the Boater's and Swimmer's sections of the site. These measurements, from Brant Beach and Brigantine, include hourly averaged wave heights and periods. The most recent measurements are displayed and updated approximately every hour. The curious can also find graph of the week-long wave history for each location.

As of today, both of the undersea nodes located offshore of Little Egg Inlet are offlline. Engineers at the Rutgers University Marine Field Station are currently overhauling the two instruments for the summer research season. They should come back online in June, at which point we will again be able to obtain wave measurements from them.

The COOL Lab has two additional coastal radars in Loveladies and Wildwood. These two systems are different from those in Brant Beach and Brigantine in that they use a different frequency to make their measurements. Research is now being done to determine if these Radars will also be able to obtain wave measurements for their respective coasts.
