Long-range Coastal Ocean Currents Now Available

For almost 3 years, Rutgers University's Coastal Ocean Observation Lab has been measuring coastal ocean surface currents between the towns of Brant Beach and Brigantine, New Jersey. As of May 24, 2001, thanks to the installation of a new Long-range CODAR system, the COOL Lab can bring to scientists and the public maps of coastal currents along the entire coast of New Jersey.

Waves Added to the COOLroom

The week of April 27, 2001, scientists in the COOL Lab added wave measurements from the Coastal Radars to the Boater's and Swimmer's sections of the site. These measurements, from Brant Beach and Brigantine, include hourly averaged wave heights and periods. The most recent measurements are displayed and updated approximately every hour. The curious can also find graph of the week-long wave history for each location.
